OECD STI published its Paper on “The Design and Implementation of Mission-Oriented Innovation Policies”

The OECD Directorate for Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) recently published its new Policy Paper on “The Design and Implementation of Mission-Oriented Innovation Policies”, aiming at providing a new systemic policy approach to address societal challenges and analysing the “mission-oriented innovation policies” (MOIPs), which is a new type of systemic intervention for tackling those societal challenges. EARTO had provided input to this OECD report, promoting its own recent paper on missions. More precisely, this paper:
  • puts forward a dedicated analytical framework to systematically indicate the challenges and opportunities of the policies at national levels.
  • gives a better understanding of the different ways in which governments design, fund and coordinate MOIPs, while contributing to further expanding the number of options available in order to improve or initiate this policy approach.
  • complements the OECD’s knowledge platform on MOIPs, the MOIP Online Toolkit.
