EC published a Stakeholders’ Consultation on Innovation Ecosystems – deadline 31 January

The European Commission (EC) has recently published a Stakeholders’ Consultation, open until 31 January 2020, as part of a broad consultation launched by EC’s DG R&I Innovation Ecosystems Task Force. The EU Innovation Ecosystems are a novelty included in Horizon Europe Pillar III with a proposed budget of €500 million. It will aim at connecting with regional and national innovation actors and supporting the implementation of joint cross-border innovation programmes. It also should complement the ERDF support for innovation eco-systems and interregional partnerships around smart specialisation topics.   This consultation focuses on understanding the challenges, needs and priorities of the innovation actors in Europe, aiming at receiving feedback on how Horizon Europe’s Innovation Ecosystems can best support them.   The expected results will:
  • be analysed in a synopsis report, and discussed on 18 February 2020 in a conference to a representative group of actors of the European Innovation Ecosystems;
  • feed into the preparation of the next Innovation Ecosystems Work Programme for 2021;
  • help prioritise the activities including targeted issues, tools for implementation, instrumental stakeholders and expected impact.
