EC launched first calls for proposals under the Digital Europe Programme

On 17 November 2021, the European Commission (EC) announced the first calls of proposals under the Digital Europe Programme in digital tech, cybersecurity and European Digital Innovation Hubs. The calls are open to businesses, organisations, and public administrations from the EU Member States, as well as entities from other countries associated to the Digital Europe Programme.   This calls for proposals is introduced following the adoption by the commission on 10 November 2021 of three work programmes allocating nearly €2 billion for the Digital Europe Programme in different topic areas aiming to implement the goals set out in the Europe’s Digital Decade. These three programmes are divided into a main programme and two specific programmes for a total of €1.98 billion:
  • The main work programme’s focus (€38 billion): investment in the areas of artificial intelligence (AI), cloud and data spaces, quantum communication infrastructure, advanced digital skills, and the wide use of digital technologies across the economy and society, until the end of 2022.
  • The first specific work programme’s focus ( €269 million until the end of 2022) : funding in the area of cybersecurity.
  • The second specific work programme’s focus (€329 million until the end of 2023): set-up and operation of the network of European Digital Innovation Hubs.
