EC launched a Public Consultation on Sustainable finance – EU Taxonomy
On 24 November 2020, the European Commission (EC) launched a public consultation on
Sustainable finance – EU classification system for green investments in order to achieve its climate and energy targets for 2030, aiming at being climate-neutral by 2050. According to the EC, this initiative creates a classification system for sustainable economic activities (‘taxonomy’), and focuses on the EU’s environmental objectives on climate change mitigation and adaptation. Its aim is to create a common language for investors when investing in projects and economic activities that have a substantial positive impact on the climate and the environment.
The deadline to provide feedback is until 18 December 2020.
