EC Communication on Sustainable Europe Investment Plan
On 14 January 2020, the European Commission (EC) published the
Sustainable European Investment Plan which is the investment pillar of the
European Green Deal. The Sustainable Europe Investment Plan will provide at least €1 trillion of sustainable investment from 2021-2030, setting Research and Innovation as a key driver for the transition to a climate-neutral Europe and green economy.
Furthermore, in 2020, the last year of Horizon 2020, the EC is planning to launch a call of approximately €1 billion, which will be allocated to the priorities of the EU Green Deal, along with the already existing budget of €1.35 billion for 2020. As far as Horizon Europe is concerned, at least 35% of its budget will contribute to climate objectives, expected to reach €35 billion.
