EC Communication on New EU Industrial Strategy

On 10 March 2020, the EC published its Communication on EU Industrial Strategy, which proposes a new policy framework based on key strategic industrial value chains attached to key enabling technologies. The High-Level Industrial Roundtable “Industry 2030” and the Strategic Forum for Important Projects of Common European Interest (IPCEIs), to which EARTO actively contributed, set first stones of this final document which aims at gaining the support of EU Council and the Croatian Presidency by end of June.   EARTO published a Press Release on the New EU Industrial Strategy, welcoming EC’s efforts in recognising the crucial role of technology development and scale-up as well as technology infrastructures, which will be key enablers of the twin transition towards climate neutrality and digital leadership. In this context, EARTO very much appreciates:
  • The call for a swift agreement on the next Multi-Annual Financial Framework (MFF),
  • The upcoming Communication on the future of Research and Innovation and the European Research Area,
  • The launch of public private partnerships in the Horizon Europe Programme,
  • The creation of an open Industrial Forum,
  • The screening and analysis of industrial needs and the identification of ecosystems needing a tailor-made approach,
  • The planned revision of the State Aid rules, including for IPCEIs, and the Intellectual Property Action Plan.
EARTO will continue to monitor the European Commission’s actions of interest following this Communication. As key actors in the European innovation-driven.
