EC adopted proposals for EU Green Deal

On 14 July 2021, the European Commission (EC) adopted a set of proposals in order to make the EU’s climate, energy, land use, transport and taxation policies fit for reducing net greenhouse gas emissions by at least 55% by 2030. With the European Green Deal, Europe aims to become the world’s first climate-neutral continent by 2050. The EC presented the legislative tools to meet the targets agreed in the European Climate Law and transform both economy and society.   The contribution and importance of research and innovation is well recognised in this EC communication and especially in the proposal ‘Fit for 55: delivering the EU’s 2030 Climate Target on the way to climate neutrality‘. More precisely, 35% of Horizon Europe funding will be allocated for green investments. Research partnerships and missions will also provide funding to develop new technologies needed to achieve the green transition.   More information
