Council approves deal on Public Sector Information (PSI) directive

On 6 February 2019, Member States’ Ambassadors confirmed the agreement between the Romanian presidency and the European Parliament on the revised Public Sector Information directive (PSI), which extends the scope of the rules on re-use of public sector information to research data.   The final articles on Research Data (Art.10, Recitals 13 and 24) follow the principle of research data being “as open as possible, as closed as necessary”, with the relevant safeguards linked to “intellectual property rights, personal data protection and confidentiality, security and legitimate commercial interests”.   The text will be checked from the legal and linguistic aspect. The legal act is expected to be formally adopted by the European Parliament and the Council this spring.   More information Draft Directive
