Mission: KEMEA designs, implements & carries out research projects & studies on homeland security relating to the Ministry of Interior (MoI) & its associated agencies & other foreign organizations with respective EU, other state or international organizations according to the relevant rules & procedures. Develops collaborations on a national & international level with organizations & agencies, research and education centers, social, academic & productive Bodies, & NGOs. Examines methods & practices which can help in the implementation of effective anti-crime policies. Monitors & studies the technological advancements of security systems & evaluates breakthroughs achieved & makes suggestions on the exploitation of the know-how it possesses. Supports cross-border collaborations procedures, organizes & conducts conventions, publishes research and general findings of scientific interest, conducts educational seminars, provides certified training on subjects pertaining to security designing.
Vision: KEMEA aims at the security research integration through cross-border collaborations with all related government agencies & institutions of the EU Member States and associate countries, relevantly to crime prevention & the fight against organized crime & terror through the use of all available technologies. KEMEA designs & implements targeted actions for enhancing the protection of national characterized European critical infrastructure (CIs). The actions include a series of activities aiming to provide a commonly accepted level of security and safety in CIs, which will be determined through the constant cooperation of the entities responsible for the security & safety of the citizens & the conductors & security officers responsible for the security of CIs, in order to determine a cooperation framework between the involved actors, leading to the enhancement of the CIs resilience against multiple risks (all hazards approach) & society.
