On 7 March 2017, the Council and the European Parliament reached an agreement on the mid-term revision of the current Multiannual Financial Framework 2014-2020. They for instance agreed on:

  • the top-up of H2020 by 200M€ aligned on the Council's position (EC and EP had proposed 400M€), to be implemented in the years 2017 to 2020 in the framework of the annual budgetary procedure.

  • the top-ups of other EU programme boosting Jobs & Growth spread over four years (2017-2020), including CEF 300M€; Erasmus+ 100M€; COSME 100M€; EFSI 150M€; Youth Employment Initiative 1200M€; etc.

  • measures to avoid the accumulation of an excessive amount of unpaid bills and ensure that payment claims are duly reimbursed.

The Council has formally requested the Parliament to give its consent and approve the MFF revision package. Next steps:

  • 20 March 2017: Exchange of views in EP BUDG Committee in the presence of Günther Oettinger, Commissioner for Budget & Human Resources
