CSEM Press Release: New Records for the Solar Cell of Tomorrow

EARTO member CSEM, with the U.S. Department of Energy’s National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) and EPFL, have worked together to demonstrate the high potential of silicon-based multi-junction solar cells: they raised the one-sun record conversion efficiency of III–V/Si solar cells to 32.8% for two junctions and 35.9% for three junctions. These achievements, published in Nature Energy, are a world first in the highly competitive race to improve silicon-based solar cells efficiency, confirming the potential of this approach.
